This New York Diner Just Opened And It’s Already Turning Heads
You may remember the old Byrne Dairy building on Meadow Street in Ithaca. The beloved spot was left empty when the dairy expanded into a larger location. It’s now the home of an upscale diner that pays homage to the previous resident with its name: The Milkstand. The Milkstand serves traditional diner food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They’ve also got fancier items: crepes, steaks, pastas, and even more specials planned for the future. As you can imagine, the spot is quite popular with students, but it’s also a great option for a date night or family outing.
The restaurant is named for the milk bar that used to be in the dairy building, where people could go to fill up their glass milk jugs.
The Milkstand has a charming, Instagram-worthy decor. You might not expect gold silverware and mason jar drinking glasses at a diner. The combination of traditional diner feel with more modern touches makes for a unique experience.
One other notable feature of The Milkstand that sets them apart is their options for those with dietary preferences. They've got way more vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options than most traditional diners.
