This Little Known Natural Oasis Is Hiding In New York… And You’re Going To Love It
It’s no secret to anyone who has visited New York that our state is home to some pretty enchanting gardens. No matter what region you find yourself in, everyone has that one peaceful and serene location that they repeatedly love to visit. For many of us, that means finding a soothing spot by the water or taking a stroll through one of our woodland areas. Hiding away in Dutchess County in the small village of Millbrook, you’ll find the little known natural oasis that is Innisfree Garden.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Looking like a breathing fairytale, Innisfree Garden was inspired by both Chinese and Japanese gardens and landscapes. Another large source of inspiration to those who helped create this garden, was Alice In Wonderland.

Admission costs $6 ($7 on weekends and holidays) to visit the garden. Open from 10AM to 4PM Wednesday through Fridays and weekends/holidays from 11AM to 5pm, visitors can choose to either explore the landscape on their own or take a guided tour.

This ethereal garden holds a special place in our hearts for many reasons, one being that it has such a variety within its landscape. With more than a hundred acres to explore, you'll come across beautiful waterfalls, wooded areas, beautiful stonework and more.

Surrounding Tyrrel Lake, you can explore down near the water and keep your eye out for our amazing wildlife like the beautiful Heron pictured above!

The perfect place to bring lunch, you'll find a designated picnic area within the garden as well as other places to sit, like these chairs by the lake that you can see pictured above.

For most visitors, it takes about 90 minutes to walk through the entire garden, key word walk. If we're going to be realistic, you'll more than likely spend several hours exploring here and breathing in all of the beauty.

Not only does the garden surround a stunning lake, throughout the grounds you'll find plenty of beautiful water features. Pictured above you can see one of the water spouts you'll find when visiting, often helping to cool down our visitors during the hot summer days!

How funky are these tree roots?

The garden is geared towards making visitors truly think about their surroundings and to fully experience Mother Nature. After taking the time to visit this magnificent and unique garden, you'll feel nothing but peaceful.
