It’s Impossible Not To Love The Most Eccentric Town In New York
The perfect destinations to seek out when you’re looking to take a charming day trip, New York’s small towns will win over your heart. In the past we’ve talked about some of the Empire State’s more quirky places like Pine Bush and Lily Dale as well as Tannersville and Chittenango that all have their own reasons for making you want to visit. So if you’re looking to tack on one more unique area that’s worth traveling to, try heading to one of our state’s most eccentric towns in Chautauqua County.
Located at the very southern end of Chautauqua Lake, Jamestown is most famous for being the hometown of Lucille Ball.
With all of the things that you'll find dedicated to Lucille Ball throughout town, you'll often discover visitors dedicated visitors who are more than eager to explore the area.
Taking their love for the star one step further, you'll also find people visiting Lake View Cemetery where Lucille Ball is buried to shower her with love.
Making sure to keep her memory alive and strong, there's also the charismatic Lucille Ball Little Theatre that puts on and hosts performing art shows right in town.
Before you go you'll want to head out to the waterfront to check out the Celoron Lighthouse that can be enjoyed while you're walking around the Lucille Ball Memorial Park.
To those of our residents who have already visited this amazing destination, you may be due for another trip. The area was frequently the talk of the town due to it's unflattering statue dedicated to Lucille Ball AKA "Scary Lucy" in the Memorial Park. While we can't help but appreciate the effort that was originally put into the first statue, you'll be glad to hear that last year a new, more lifelike bronze work of art was put into the park.
