This Buffalo Food Fest Is The Most Delicious Way To End Your Summer
If there’s one food that sums up Buffalo, it’s the chicken wing – so it’s only fitting that we have an entire festival centered around our favorite poultry item! Trust is when we tell you: this event is the perfect way to wrap up summer. Mark your calendars and learn what makes the National Buffalo Wing Festival (known to locals as the “Wing Fest”) so cluckin’ great!
Plan ahead for your weekend and attend the event from noon to 9 on Saturday and noon to 7 on Sunday!
According to their website, the Wing Fest has brought in over 865,000 people and has served over 4.6 million wings since its inception. Yes, we said MILLION!
Each year, the National Chicken Wing Festival features dozens of vendors who serve up their specialty chicken wings to hungry attendees. Both local and global restaurants set up shop (or should we say grill?) to prepare their finest poultry creations!
Whether you like classic wings or more interesting varieties (cheese-covered wings anyone?), there's something to please every palate at the Wing Fest! As an added bonus, several beer and wine tents also set up at the festival to help wash down the spicy samples!
When we said there was something for everyone, we meant EVERYONE. Even people who prefer their wings coated in hot chocolate flavored sauce. Don't knock it 'till ya try it!
What would a food festival be without an eating competition? The National Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival hosts one of the best food eating competitions around, with famous talent traveling from afar to nosh on as many wings as possible!
Buffalonians have a thing for blue cheese (no other dip will do for wings!), and it shows with the "Bobbing for Wings" competition at the Wing Fest. So disgusting, yet so entertaining!
Along with the more intense competitions, the Wing Fest also hosts a "Miss Buffalo Wing" competition with two age groups. There's also an oh-so-adorable "Baby Wing" competition, featuring the smallest wing lovers!
Drew "The Wing King" Cerza is the mastermind behind the National Buffalo Wing Festival. To say he is a local legend is an understatement! His dedication to this epic food festival shows exactly why this has been such a hot event for the past 16 years. (Pun totally intended.)
