The Store That’s In The Middle Of Nowhere But So Worth The Journey From Buffalo
While we’d like to think that we have everything that we need right here in the Queen City, sometimes there’s a need to travel outside of Buffalo. The perfect excuse to do some shopping and relive the good old days, visiting any one of New York’s few remaining general stores is a charming outing that’s worth taking. If you travel just an hour south, you’ll discover a historic little shop that’s been around for nearly 150 years.
Down in the darling town of Ellicottville in Cattaraugus County, the Ellicottville Country Store has a history that dates back to 1870.
The original general store was turned into one of our state’s first Harley Davidson shops in the 1930s, but the building returned to its roots as a general store shortly after and has been winning over the hearts of visitors ever since.
The shop has a little bit of everything, featuring items like kitchenware, home decor, books, jewelry, and a variety of antiques that come from several local dealers.
The country store is two stories, so be sure to head upstairs to find even
more amazing finds to take home with you.
Stepping through the door feels like entering a vintage home. It's hard to find places like this that fill you with so much nostalgia.
One of our favorite things about the Ellicottville Country Store is the attached Ashford Junction Diner!
At the diner, you can find delicious eats like double Belgian waffles, homemade soups and pies, as well as classic sandwiches and burgers.
Pay a visit to the Ellicottville Country Store and Ashbury Junction Diner to do some shopping and dining that you'll never forget.
The Ellicottville Country Store & Antiques is located at located at 5364 NY-242, Ellicottville, NY 14731. It's open on Wednesday & Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
