2,000+ acres of land to explore, 12 impressive waterfalls, and several trails to get your steps in. If you’re a native Buffalonian or Western New Yorker, chances are you’ve heard of this beautiful destination. South of the city of Buffalo in Cattaraugus and Erie Counties lies Zoar Valley, a stunning hiking trail that is truly otherworldly.
The Zoar Valley Multi-Use Area consists of several hiking trails and thousands of acres of land to explore.
There are different ways to get to the area depending on which trail you want to take. There is a kiosk with hiking trails map located at the end of Valentine Flats Road in Cattaraugus County.
Zoar Valley is mainly owned by the State of New York, but there are certain sections that are privately owned. Be respectful of private property and stay on the trails. We promise there is plenty of acreage to explore while staying the path!
While the hikes at Zoar Valley are a great form of exercise, they can also be dangerous. Be sure to stay away from cliff edges when possible and always be aware of your surroundings and the weather forecast before you hit the trails.
Hiking at Zoar Valley has the potential to bring you up close and personal with several of the areas' waterfalls, which will make you realize why some people refer to it as "12 Falls"!
Once you get to the valley itself, you'll see what all the fuss is about. The views are honestly otherworldly, and you'll feel like you've been transported to a completely different landscape.
