Spring is in the air, but that doesn’t mean we won’t still get weather that rains on our parade. If you’re looking for a great indoor activity in Buffalo, look no further than the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens! This South Buffalo location is a favorite spot for families, photographers, and those looking for warmth and beauty without being out in the elements. Read on to see what makes the venue so great!
The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are located at 2655 South Park Avenue.
The Botanical Garden is home to a myriad of plant species from tropical varieties to hardy blooms and trees. The design of the conservatory is a Frederick Olmsted creation, originally named the South Park Conservatory.
The entrance to the conservatory will make you feel like you left Buffalo and wandered into a tropical paradise. Along with being surrounded by palm leaves and flowering plants, the interior of the gardens is kept nice and warm, which is especially welcomed in the winter months!
There is no shortage of things to see within the Botanical Gardens. Each season brings new flowering plants to enjoy, with constantly evolving displays throughout the conservatory.
There are several different rooms to wander at the gardens. Bring a book and sit on a bench near the fountains, invite a friend to play a game of chess in the courtyard, or bring the kids along to enjoy the sandbox and children's section, sponsored by Wegmans!
Along with providing the public with a beautiful destination, the Botanical Gardens also offers up their stunning space for special events such as showers, small parties, and intimate wedding celebrations.
Check out the Botanical Gardens' website to view upcoming events and lecture series, which are held often in the conservatory. You can also sign up for "make-and-take" workshops and private workshops to make your own botanical creations!
Head to the Botanical Gardens during regular business hours (open daily from 10-5) and mark your calendars for special events at the conservatory such as Lumagination and Starry Night at the Garden!
Whenever you decide to visit the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, be sure to bring your camera with you! There are so many beautiful things inside the conservatory for your viewing pleasure. If you’ve never been to the gardens… get there! If you have, be sure to share your favorite features and photos of the grounds with us in the comments!
