This Epic Train Ride Near Buffalo Will Give You An Unforgettable Experience
All aboard! Okay, so this isn’t really in Buffalo, but a quick trip is worth it for the ultimate Western New York train ride. If you’ve never heard of the Arcade and Attica Railroad, you’re missing out! Located about 45 minutes south of the city, the A&A calls the quaint, charming town of Arcade home. With its bright orange color and billowing smoke, it’s hard to miss this local gem!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

From May to October, the A&A invites passengers to take a ride on the last steam powered engines in New York! Enjoy a step back in time as you enter the bright orange station on Main Street in Arcade, which holds artifacts and mementos in its museum that capture the way life was when the line was laid in the 1880s. You even purchase your tickets from a ticket master (not the .com kind) and are summoned to the train with the traditional, “All aboard!”

After you enter the train’s old passenger cabs, sit down and relax with the snacks you bought at the station and enjoy the ride for the next 90 minutes. The A&A passes through Arcade’s farmland and countryside that has been mainly untouched since the train’s origin.

Upon arrival at Currier’s Depot, passengers can exit the train to take pictures of the locomotive and the surrounding countryside. After a few minutes, everyone then climbs back aboard and hits the tracks back to Arcade. For the best photo ops, opt to take a ride during their foliage rides in October.

The train rides are seasonal, with normal rides ending in October, but you'll also find special rides around the holidays.
