Quality time is an important aspect of family life, but venturing to amusement parks, indoor bounce houses, and taking your teenage children to the movies and mall on a regular basis can cost a pretty penny! Lucky for you, Buffalo values family time enough to not put a price on the fun. Albright-Knox’s First Fridays is a great activity everyone can enjoy – for free!
Mark your calendars for First Fridays at the Albright-Knox, sponsored by M&T. Find the gallery at 1285 Elmwood Avenue.
Even docent-led tours are free during First Fridays, including the "What's Your Vision?" Tour, where participants are able to dissect the art from their own unique perspectives.
Worried about bringing your children to a beautiful museum? Don't be! Kids can check out the "art cart" for hands-on activities. (So you don't have to say "Don't touch!" 100 times during your visit.)
Drop-in art centers are inspired by artwork on display at the museum, and every First Friday is different! Come back each month to see what the new inspiration is.
Join in the interactive fun. The drop-in art activities are free and open to "artists of all ages," because you're never too young or too old to enjoy making art!
There are even special events, which coincide with the First Friday theme of the month. For June, the theme is "Wild," making it fitting that there would be a visit from The Buffalo Zoo's Zoomobile!
Can you believe this is all free? M&T First Fridays at Albright-Knox are a great place to bring the family for interactive fun that’s also educational! If you want even more from your First Fridays experience, some events and exhibitions are available for a fee (or free with the cost of a regular admission), such as “The Art of Food and Drink,” which allows guests to sample goods from local restaurants from 8:30-9:30 PM.
The next M&T First Fridays is being held on Friday, June 2nd, at the Albright-Knox Gallery. Will you carve out some time in your family’s busy schedule to check it out for yourself?
