Peanut butter and jelly. Macaroni and cheese. Pizza and wings. Beef on weck and… frozen custard? Yes, you read that right. While it might sound strange, only in Buffalo will you find this odd but strangely delicious food pairing. Read on to learn more about the history of Anderson’s and what you can expect at this classic Western New York establishment!
It was soon replaced by a bigger location on Sheridan Drive in 1953, which is still up and running today.
Don't ask us why, but frozen custard and roast beef just seem to go together. Maybe it's a Buffalo thing, but we're confident the Andersons were onto something when they crafted their menu with this food pairing!
While a lot of things have remained the same at Anderson's – family values, quality ingredients, same great roast beef and custard – things *are* a bit different today than they were in the 50s.
Beef on weck and frozen custard are definitely still must-haves when you go to Anderson's, but their other menu items are worth checking out, too! A classic WNY fish fry, perhaps?
There are several preservative-free and gluten-free options to choose from if you're watching your waistline or avoiding allergens. Anderson's soups are a great way to warm up during the winter months!
Anderson's ice cream received the title of Buffalo's Best Ice Cream by ArtVoice in 2015, and we are certainly not arguing. Their handmade ice creams and frozen custards are the main reasons why customers can be seen lining up for more!
This classic Buffalo restaurant now operates 7 locations and has a food truck that roams the streets, but that doesn't prevent lines from forming out the doors! But don't get discouraged if you spot a wait the next time you're craving custard. We promise it will be worth it!
