8 Trails In New York You Must Take If You Love The Outdoors
Before we kick off this post that will absolutely have you itching to get outside, we should make a note to our explorers of New York that until further notice most of Minnewaska State Park Preserve will be closed. Roughly two weeks ago the park, which includes the popular Sam’s Point Preserve, suffered great damages during a forest fire that would end up destroying thousands of acres of land. The destructive flames that were so fiercely burning up many of our pine trees, brought heartache to those living locally and could see the fire firsthand. While the majority of the areas are still closed, technically the park has re-opened and you can click here to keep yourself updated.
While we think good thoughts for all of the affected areas and wildlife inside of Minnewaska State Park Preserve, we’ve made a list of great trails you can check out in the meantime. Ready to escape your four walls and to stretch your legs out in nature? Here are 8 trails in New York that you must take if you love the outdoors:

Located in Castile, you may know this state park for being referred to as the Grand Canyon of The East, a very well deserved nickname. With a large variety of trails that cover nearly 70 miles of New York, we suggest you try the Gorge Trail! While the trail is almost 15 miles round-trip, the day of exploring you'll have will be seriously unforgettable!
The epic trail that will turn anyone's head once they hear the name, has been a long time favorite for our residents to explore. With about 90 of its miles running through New York, the trail offers a variety of difficult areas to explore.
Right on Long Island with beautiful views of the ocean, the trails and park have plenty to keep you busy! With historical buildings that will teach you things you never knew you wanted to know about New York, you'll never want to stop exploring!
Running between Kingston and Gardiner, this nearly 24-mile trail will give you an unforgettable look at Ulster County. Our suggestion? Get out on your bike and see how much of this trail you can explore on wheels!
Another one of our trails running right through a gorge, this quick hike that is less than two miles round trip is a must! The trail is open all year-round and is a great family-friendly hike to see the gorgeous Taughannock Falls located in Trumansburg.
A highly favored spot for camping, the trails you'll find at Hither Hills will give you a run for your money! While some of the trail may barely have your heart racing, it's the strenuous dunes that make you question everything.
Just under 3 miles round trip, this short but quite steep trail will give you unique views of the Bear Mountain Bridge. Found right in West Chester County, the area is popular with visitors coming from the city who are looking to escape from the Big Apple's chaos!
Ready to surround yourself in wildlife? Falling right near the Pennsylvania border in Narrowsburg, the beautiful trail is only a 3-mile loop!
