Every one of New York’s towns has something to offer visitors, but not all of them are surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery that you won’t find just anywhere. Giving you a picturesque backdrop, waterfront destinations like this one underrated town are perfect for a weekend getaway. From getting a glimpse at the Empire State’s historic past to appreciating the town’s local ice cream spot, there’s plenty of reasons why you’ll want to visit ASAP.
Nestled along the eastern border of our Adirondack Park, the scenic town of Ticonderoga is home to 5,000 residents.
One of our favorite places to visit in Essex County, Ticonderoga has a painless 1-mile long hike that takes you to the top of Mount Defiance where you'll have beautiful views of the town.
Tucked between the northern end of Lake George and Lake Champlain, one of the best parts about this town is that you constantly have views of the water everywhere you look.
Throughout the town you'll find fascinating beauty all around you, with organizations like the Ticonderoga Historical Society setting up shop in the historic Hancock House.
With so much scenery and history to surround yourself with in Ticonderoga, you might find it necessary to unravel with some ice cream and snacks from Wind-Chill Factory!
One of our favorite stops to make along our Adirondack Ice Cream Road Trip, Wind-Chill Factory is a secluded spot to spoil yourself with some great tasting ice cream. What better way to leave your new favorite town than with a belly full of delicious dairy desserts?
