Free for all to visit and open every day from dawn until dusk, one of the best parts about this park is that you’ll be able to make your way through a variety of landscapes, allowing you to explore dense forests, breathtaking meadows, historic mill ponds, areas full of wildflowers, other secluded spaces.

Currently at the park, all trails east of the Rhododendron Road, which includes the main entrance, boardwalk, and labyrinth are currently closed due to construction - so be sure to keep an eye out for when these spectacular parts of the park are back open.

To view all of the official trail maps and to find out more information about exploring New York's Avalon Park Preserve in Stony Brook, click here and be sure to stay up to date by following their official Facebook page!

Due to construction, visitors will currently have to enter the preserve from Rhododendron Road or Shep Jones Lane, with the only permitted parking lots on Shep Jones Lane. Of course, all visitors are also currently asked to practice social distancing and to wear a mask when that isn’t possible.
