The Amish Flea Market Every New Yorker Needs To Explore At Least Once
All throughout the year, locals and out of towners alike can come to New York State and find all sorts of markets taking place. Some of our favorite markets remain open during every season, while some of our most beloved ones only operate briefly during particular seasons. Now that warmer months have fully set in and we can begin to once again enjoy our favorite outdoor activities, you’ll start to notice that many of us are heading outside to do as much of our shopping as we possibly can. If you love making your way through all of the Empire State’s different seasonal markets as much as we do, then don’t miss out on spending a Saturday in this one small town!
Just outside the heart of Penn Yan, the Windmill Farm and Craft Market sits on 40-acres of beautiful land in the Finger Lakes.
A market that's equipped with ample parking spaces, visitors of the Windmill Farm and Craft Market will even find a designated area in the back where you can park your horse buggies!
Made up of three streets, an open-air market, four main buildings, and other small outdoor shops, it's easy to spend the entire day enjoying all that makes up this small-town market.
Over the last 30 years, this place has become known as the friendliest market in all of Upstate New York.
With tour buses bringing people in from all over the state and even beyond from destinations like Canada and Pennsylvania, after hearing about how much buzz surrounds this market it's impossible to not want to check it out yourself.
Drawing in roughly 10,000 people each week during their operating season, almost 200 shops are set up here along the several market streets.
Open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., you'll find people from all over shopping around inside of all the different storefronts that are set up here.
Whether your home is in need of some floral pops of color...
...or your kitchen could use some new cutlery, you'll have a blast shopping through the huge variety of goods that are for sale here.
One of the many reasons why so many people come to this friendly marketplace though is because it's a great spot to find all sorts of Amish goods.
Many of the shops and goods that you'll find in the open-air market are homemade Amish items that you can't find just anywhere.
Speaking of speciality items, this market has also been known as a great place to purchase whimsical items like fairy and gnome gardens.
At this point, you might be wondering how you're going to have enough energy to shop all day long, but luckily that's where all the tasty vendors come in handy. The food here will make your mouth water!
Aside from things to fill your homes with, you can also find lots of locally grown produce for sale here.
And even popular items like assorted fruits baskets that let you take home a little bit of everything.
With plenty of shaded areas and picnic tables set up throughout the market's streets, it's genuinely easy to find yourself spending the entire day here in the Finger Lakes.
If you've never had the chance to experience Upstate New York's most friendly market, then be sure to add the Windmill Farm and Craft Market onto your list of things to do!
