On the lookout for a quick escape into nature? If you happen to be in the Albuquerque area, then you can enjoy a lovely oasis in the desert at Willow Creek Bosque in Rio Rancho.

Part of the bosque along the Rio Grande, this open space area covers three acres of natural riparian landscape.

Cottonwood trees line the river, short trails meander through the bosque, and you can easily observe wildlife in the area.
Willow Creek Bosque is located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Albuquerque via Interstate 25.

You'll see a glimpse of the area when crossing the Rio Grande on Highway 550 before turning onto State Road 528. From there, you'll drive through some neighborhoods before making it to the parking lot and the start of the trailhead.
There are two trails here: one measures just over three-quarters of a mile and the other about 1.75 miles.

Whichever you choose to trek, you'll find clearly marked trails with very little elevation gain. In fact, this makes both of these trails kid and dog friendly so neither tire their little legs.
