Vast in size, The Land of Enchantment offers innumerable day trip destinations in every part of the state. From its small towns to its cities and everywhere in between, there’s no shortage of exploration and adventure. A day trip destination with a walkable stretch of shops is Silver City, a small town in New Mexico that we think you will enjoy spending some time in. Let’s have a look.
Welcome to Silver City! With its close proximity to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, the Gila National Forest, and the Continental Divide Trail, this small town is a great landing point to visit some of the state's best natural attractions.
But the town itself is certainly worth spending a day in. Downtown Silver Springs, New Mexico is very walkable and offers shopping, restaurants, a historic theater, galleries, and a town plaza.
Silver City was first settled as a mining town. Today, this town makes a perfect day trip destination for New Mexico residents and out-of-state tourists.
Walk up and down Silver City's Main Street and spend some time shopping at the boutiques and antique shops. Stop for a coffee at a cafe and dine at one of the town's fine restaurants.
When you visit Silver City, be on the lookout for colorful murals created by local artists. And be sure to pop into one of the many galleries around this art town!
