There are countless amazing natural wonders in New Mexico we should all see at least once in our lives. One incredible area to add to your natural wonders bucket list is the Goblin Colony in Ponderosa, New Mexico. It’s an incredibly bizarre sight that may have you thinking you landed on another planet.

Located in the Paliza Canyon is a hike you have to add to your bucket list. And this hike will lead to some of the most otherworldly rock formations you'll ever see.

Paliza Canyon is found within the Jemez Mountains close to the Paliza Group Campground where you can camp overnight if you choose.

The trail route follows Forest Road 271 to what is known as the Paliza Goblin Colony. Here you will find a landscape covered in hundreds of hoodoos.

A hoodoo is a volcanic rock formation. They are spire-like structures that jut out of the landscape and can be so strange-looking that you may feel as though you landed on another planet when you see them.

The hoodoos here look even stranger than most others around the world. The hoodoos of the Goblin Colony have numerous eroded holes that make them look as though bizarre faces are etched into each one. They are absolutely fascinating to see!

Keep in mind that while visiting the Goblin Colony, do not climb or cause any damage to these natural structures. They may look strong but are actually quite fragile.
