Summer may be coming to a close but the hot weather isn’t showing any signs of easing. Although there are some great swimming holes in New Mexico , only one has the clearest, most pristine water in the state.
The Blue Hole is an oasis in Santa Rosa, on the eastern side of the state.
The water clarity here is phenomenal. Divers standing on the bottom of this pool can see the faces of people peering over the surface 81 feet above them!
The water here is so pristine because the natural, underground spring that supplies the water gushes through at a rate of 3000 gallons of water per minute.
In other words, every six hours, the water here is completely new. How many swimming pools or lakes can claim the same?
Swimming at the Blue Hole is a memorable experience.
Leap off the rocks and plunge into this crystal clear water that usually maintains a temperature of 61-62 degrees Fahrenheit.
You may spot plants and even fish below you in this bell-shaped pool.
There’s a reason why the Blue Hole consistently earns a spot on lists of the best swimming holes in the country. Come see for yourself!
If you prefer to soak in warmer water, New Mexico also has plenty of hot springs where you can unwind.
