One location to check out? Two Rivers Park, a sprawling 27-acre park located in the Village of Ruidoso in southern New Mexico.

As the name suggests, it is home to two rivers: the Ruidoso River and Carrizo Creek.

The park is home to the Ruidoso River Trail, which measures a total of 1.25 miles.

This path is an easy trek for everyone in the family. Paved and shaded, it meanders through the park and crosses the river several times.

Scattered along the trail, you'll find tiny wooden boxes hidden on trees.

These are actually tiny houses part of a fairy trail. Open the little door and you'll find one of 10 fairies or three trolls that live along the river.

After the short trek, enjoy the river: sit on a boulder nearby, dip your toes in the cool water, or just enjoy the sights and sounds from a grassy spot nearby.
