Take This Road Trip To The 6 Most Eye-Popping Wildflower Fields In New Mexico
You don’t have to travel too far to bask in the beauty of New Mexico. In fact, in just under eight hours, you can capture some of the most beautiful, stunning wildflower fields that the Land of Enchantment has to offer. If you truly want to experience these gorgeous landscapes, spend a few days on this wildflower trail and give yourself time to hike and explore these eye-popping fields.

The Carson National Forest is just one of the five main forests in the Land of Enchantment. The forest in the Tres Piedras area offers incredible mountain views and fields of wildflowers for you to enjoy. You can find dozens of hikes throughout the Carson National Forest for every skill level.
Bandelier National Monument may become one of your favorite stops on your road trip. This National Monument includes 33,000 acres of gorgeous country. Not only will you see some gorgeous wildflowers, but spend some time looking at the petroglyphs, masonry walls, and dwellings in the rock cliffs.
You will want to stay for a while as you drive to Hyde Memorial State Park outside of Santa Fe. There are 4.2-miles of hiking trails to help you truly enjoy all of the wildflowers in the area. Spend the night in a yurt in the local campground or have a picnic at the gorgeous picnic areas before you continue on your trip.
At the base of the Sandia Mountains, you will find 2,650 acres of open space that contains sloped hills, wildlife, and wildflowers. Not only will you find all types of birds and deer in the area, but multiple plant species as well. A few popular plant species you are likely to see include the prickly pear cactus and cane cholla.
Make sure you have your camera ready at all times when you visit the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in San Antonio. This 57,331-acre area was created in 1939 for migrating wildfowl. As you explore this wildlife refuge, you will not only see gorgeous wildflowers, but a variety of bird species as well including ducks, geese, and cranes. Keep in mind that the spring and fall months are when you will see the most waterfowl in the area.
Located near Las Cruces, the Organ Mountains are a popular outdoor attraction that reach up to 9,000 feet in elevation. Not only are there plenty of places to camp, mountain bike, and hike near the Desert Peaks National Monument, you can also enjoy the gorgeous wildflowers that cover the mountains. This is the perfect ending to a mesmerizing road trip!
