It’s Not Christmas In New Mexico Until You Do These 13 Enchanting Things
Christmas is a time of year filled with festive traditions. Whether you’re excited about the holiday season or stressed about your to-do list, some things are guaranteed to make you smile this Yuletide. Here are 13 enchanting activities to get you into the holiday spirit.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
1. Eat some biscochitos.
2. Sip hot chocolate.
Nothing says winter like drinking hot chocolate. For bonus points pair it with biscochitos.
3. While you're thinking about food, order a dish Christmas-style.
Many of you already do this but December is definitely the time to have a festive celebration on your plate.
4. See a Christmas lights display.
The most spectacular light extravaganzas are Christmas on the Pecos in Carlsbad and the River of Lights at the ABQ Biopark. Bugg Lights at the Belen Harvey House Museum is another impressive yet affordable option.

6. Hit the slopes to watch a torchlight parade and fireworks display.
There are fantastic ones at Ski Apache and at the Red River Ski and Summer Area.
7. Try a winter sport.
You don’t have to be Tara Lipinski to enjoy time on the ice. Skiing, snowshoeing and tubing are also great ways to get some fresh air.
8. Listen to a holiday concert or watch the Nutcracker.
There are loads of seasonal musical performances taking place in December and some of them are free.
9. Warm yourself in front of a fire.
It isn't Christmas until you have curled up beside the kiva.
10. Embrace the season of giving.
Whether it’s donating to Toys for Tots or helping out at your local food bank, take some time to give back.
11. Stop by a Christmas store.
Pick out a new ornament or just browse through all the decorations.
12. Meet Santa.
Get a photo taken with Santa Claus and, if you don’t have any young family members around, there are a surprising number of places where your pet can pose with Saint Nick.
13. Spend time with loved ones.
