The Scrumptious Small Town New Mexico Cafe You Had No Idea Existed
Many tiny towns in New Mexico are hiding culinary treasures, but one small spot, in particular, is loaded with memorable restaurants. When it comes to great eats, you’re positively spoiled for choice in Taos. As a result, it’s easy to overlook some of the lesser-known eateries that the town has to offer.
The Blue Mountain Café is tucked inside the Kachina Lodge Resort and Spa at 413 Paseo del Pueblo Norte. You may have driven right by, without even realizing it was there.
Next time you’re in the area, hit the brakes and head inside to explore. As you can see, the unique décor and ornate carvings set this café apart.
The ambience is both rustic and retro and the staff welcoming.
Prepare yourself for a scrumptious breakfast experience. Feast on hearty French toast, wafer thin crepes, or waffles – try them with butterscotch butter.
There’s a good array of omelet options and, of course, huevos rancheros.
At lunch, it’s all about the burgers. A half-pound of beef is hand-crafted into a patty, which balances on a brioche bun.
Blue Mountain really excels at pizza.
Who could turn down a pie called the "chupacabra?" Yummy rather than scary, this pizza is topped with spinach, mushrooms, goat cheese, and garlic. Gluten-free crusts are available, and the cafe just started a delivery service.
Don’t forget to save room for some delectable gelato, which is handmade and free of preservatives.
You can even play board games as you eat!
