Bakeries aren’t hard to find in New Mexico, but this one is out of this world…and out in the middle of nowhere. You may have to travel to find this little pie shop, but once you get there you’ll fall in love. Not only are the pies amazing, but the whole town is dedicated to them. Check out why this bakery in Pie Town will steal your heart.
Welcome to Pie-O-Neer!
This amazing bakery is located in a remote part of New Mexico called Pie Town.
That’s right, there’s a real place called Pie Town!
Pie Town is a very small, friendly town located in southern New Mexico.
It’s joked that Pie Town is "exactly
3.14 miles from the middle of nowhere."- and rumor has it that’s where the name originated from.
The history behind this charming pie shop is just as sweet.
Kathy and her mother Mary Knapp are the founders of Pie-O-Neer. When they came to the small town, Pie Town, they were shocked to find that there weren’t any pie shops anymore! Three generations of Knapps—including daughter Wendi—then started baking pies, with Mary in lead as she had success as a baker in Illinois. They were determined to put the pie back in Pie Town, and the rest is history.
These women truly did bring Pie Town back to life.
Kathy Knapp has been named the "Pie Lady of Pie Town," and there’s even a documentary feature on her.
Their motto is, "If you bake it, they will come." What a true statement.
People travel to this truly remote town for classic favorites such as "Cheery-Cherry" or their famous meringue pies.
Pie-O-Neer’s pies are out of this world. They recently opened a pie bar in which you can get pie by the slice, or order a whole pie to go.
They also have take 'n bake pies if you're in town now but don't want it until later.
Pie is truly Pie-O-Neer’s passion, and you just have to taste it yourself. It’s well worth the drive.
Pie-O-Neer is located at US "Pie Way" 60, Pie Town, NM.
