This Unique Restaurant In New Jersey Will Give You An Unforgettable Dining Experience
It’s Thanksgiving Day and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by my family and friends here in New Jersey. As is our tradition, my mother will be making a mouthwatering meal complete with turkey, rolls, the best brownies you’ve ever tasted and plenty more. She’ll spend hours cooking and baking and we’ll be fortunate enough to enjoy the spoils of her efforts. But what if she just wanted to relax? I’d be more than happy to take over but I don’t think my relatives would be quite so thrilled. Luckily, there are some spectacular restaurants open for dinner today. While most require reservations, one is unique.
The Smithville Inn will be offering up an epic buffet, on a first come, first served basis.
Last minute change of plans? No worries. The inn will be open from 11:30 a.m - 7 p.m. for all your holiday dining needs. No reservations are necessary and, in fact, are only available (on a limited basis) for groups of 10 or more. If you need to wait a bit, it's worth it. There are nearly a dozen stations including a carving station (with turkey, of course), pasta station, bread station and a mashed potato bar with everything from mini-marshmallows to cheddar cheese). There's a fish station, salad station and dessert station with cannoli, cheesecakes, apple cobbler and more. There's just so much to choose from - you're sure to leave satisfied. There are even options for picky eaters, like chicken fingers and mac n' cheese.
The Smithville Inn is located on the grounds of Historic Smithville and charming Village Greene shopping village. There are dozens of spectacular shops, many centered around unique themes. There's an Italian market, pottery shop, Shell We (a nautical dream come true), Santa Fe East (Native American art + artifacts) and many more. It's the perfect place for holiday gift shopping. The Honey Pot exudes country charm and southern hospitality, Pawdazzle is a pet boutique. There's also an amazing Christmas Shoppe for all your ornament and collectible needs. Stores are open from 11 p.m. - 5 p.m..
Beginning today (tonight, technically), 120 Christmas trees made from over 50,000 Christmas lights will magically float on Lake Meone in the center of Historic Smithville. When darkness falls, an orchestrated show of lights and music is played out across the lake. The lights dance along to the beat while reflecting off the water’s glistening surface. This show can be seen from either side of the village and well as the bridge. The show runs in 30 minute loops, so you don't need to worry about missing a thing (as long as you visit between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.). The display is absolutely enchanting and the perfect way to kick off the holiday season with your friends and family.
I can’t think of a more relaxing, enjoyable Thanksgiving tradition! Visit the Smithville Inn at 1 N New York Road, Smithville (Galloway). To learn more about the village’s charming Christmas Shoppe, click here.
