It’s easy to tell when someone isn’t from New Jersey – there are plenty of tell-tale signs! We’re a particular bunch, and New Jerseyans have a few distinctive habits. Here are a few of the easiest ways to spot an imposter in the Garden State.

1. Their ice cream order includes sprinkles.

While there are some exceptions, most people born and raised in Jersey will order a cone with jimmies.
2. They have no opinion on "central Jersey".

We don't think this kind of person exists... and we also don't think central Jersey exists.
3. They're confused when you ask if they want to take a boost!

4. They're perfectly capable of pumping their own gas.

6. They're "midwest nice".

Don't get me wrong - if you've got a flat tire, a New Jerseyan is going to stop to help you, but they'll make you feel like you really should have known what to do, anyway. While we're plenty nice here, nobody's going out of their way for pleasantries.
7. They think the night before Halloween isn't a big deal.

Mischief Night is a Jersey tradition! Anyone who doesn't know about our state's favorite holiday is clearly from somewhere else. When you grew up here, you knew to have the toilet paper ready and the pranks dialed in.
