This Tiny, Isolated New Jersey Village Is One Of The Last Of Its Kind
At one time, mining towns and fishing villages were abundant in the Garden State. From Bivalve to Batsto, several still remain, in one form or another. Still, one stands out for its unique charm. Located on an island, it’s isolated from the mainland and it’s our very own slice of a simpler time.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/nominate/
While Viking Village has been commercialized over the years, it still retains its history and charm. Visit throughout the year at 19th Street and Bayview Avenue in Barnegat Light. Upcoming events include the Antique & Collectible Show on September 17th and Santa’s Viking Christmas Village on November 25th.
