One of the best little nature parks in New Jersey is near Atlantic City. You’ll find a few miles of easy, graded trails along with plenty of wildlife – turtles, herons, songbirds, and so much more! Come take an easy walk through Birch Grove Park in Northfield, New Jersey.
The beautiful park sits just outside of Atlantic City in the town of Northfield. It's a true hidden gem on the Jersey Shore.
The trails weave in and out of the bogs that are the centerpiece of the park, and a variety of trees attract dozens of bird species, making this an ecological wonderland not far from the busy shore city.
This Northfield park used to offer primitive, rustic camping, but in 2016, the park management decided to let the campsites return to their natural form and the park has been for day use only for the past several years. This has made it even more inviting to wildlife!
There are still some facilities here, like the beautiful gazebo, but for the most part, it's a natural retreat with minimal evidence of human involvement.
Take a break from the beach and hike through Birch Grove Park, where you'll find a forest of trees, waterfront views, and a whole lot of peace and quiet.
This quiet park puts the environment first, so no dogs are allowed. For more information, visit the Birch Grove Park website and plan your trip to Atlantic County.
