This Overnight Ghost Hunt In New Jersey Is The Creepiest Thing You’ll Ever Do
New Jersey abounds with tales of the supernatural. We’re home to one of the most haunted roads in America; we’ve got haunted hotels, haunted museums and haunted forests. But that’s only just the start – we have entire towns known for their paranormal activity. While Cape May is perhaps one of the most charming villages in the Garden State, it has a long history of hauntings. Explore that history with a weekend-long ghost hunt that you’ll never forget.
Elaine's is a boutique hotel located in downtown Cape May.
It also offers a gourmet restaurant, Victorian pub and amazing dinner theater. The dinner theater was ranked among the top 5 in America by the Food Network and is currently showing Young Dracula.
A wonderful place to visit, it's overflowing with charm...perhaps that's why some seem to stay forever.
This hotel is known to be haunted - paranormal activity is well-documented. Built in 1864, Elaine's was originally the private residence of Dr. Reed and his daughter Emily, who contracted Tuberculosis. She died at an early age and it is believed her spirit still remains. Guests have reported hearing laughter and knocking noises, along with other unexplained activity. Several other spirits are said to reside here (all friendly), including that of a cat.
Each year, this haunted hotel hosts a very special event.
Ghost Hunter's Weekend will begin this year on Friday, October 13th. The event includes a two night stay. On Friday evening, there will be a welcome reception with champagne and dessert. You will enjoy a private reading from psychic Laurie Hull who has been investigating haunted locations for decades. The weekend also includes complimentary breakfasts, dinner and a show at Elaine's Famous Dinner Theater, and a Walking Ghost Tour around Cape May. On Saturday evening, you will explore Elaine's in search of spirits, using professional ghost detecting tools!
I can’t imagine a better way to enjoy the Halloween season! Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, you’re sure to have a spooktacular time. Call for details at (609) 884-4358. Find Elaine’s at 513 Lafayette Street, Cape May. For another paranormal experience along the Jersey Shore, check out Paranormal Books & Curiosities in Asbury Park.
