This Open Air Train Ride In New Jersey Is A Scenic Adventure For The Whole Family
If you want to step back in time, there’s no better place to visit than Allaire State Park. Not only is this New Jersey park home to an old-fashioned village and hundreds of acres of preserved forest, but it’s also one of the only places in the state where you can take an open-air train ride on in historic train cars! Kids and adults of all ages love to ride on the scenic, breezy Pine Creek Railroad, so mark your calendar and book your trip!
Pine Creek Railroad is a project of the New Jersey Museum of Transportation, and this Allaire State Park train is one of the best day trip destinations in the Garden State.
You can order your ticket online or on-site, but either way, you'll have the old-fashioned experience of picking a physical train ticket up at the vintage-inspired ticket booth.
The Pine Creek Railroad itself is a short set of tracks that's maintained by volunteers from the New Jersey Museum of Transportation, and their mission is to preserve historic railroad equipment.
While the daily train rides are a fun way to spend some time, the holiday trains are the most popular excursions. Their haunted Halloween rides are wildly popular...
These weekend train rides run from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm, and they depart every half hour. Times for special events and holiday trains may vary, and the weather plays a big part in when trains roll on. You can buy your ticket online, or at the ticket booth. The New Jersey Museum of Transportation’s Facebook Page is the best source for up-to-date information regarding regular departures and special events.
