by Kristen 10 Ways People In New Jersey Can Relax And Take It Easy
The holiday season can get stressful, and we could all use a little rest and relaxation. Luckily, New Jersey offers plenty of opportunities to soothe the soul. Whatever your interests, there’s a way for you to unwind on this list.
1. Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the solar system.
What better way to make our problems seem smaller than staring out into space and taking in entire galaxies? If you're looking for incredible projections of the universe, consider one of the following planetariums: Dreyfuss Planetarium in Newark, The Long Planetarium in Randolph, New Jersey State Museum Planetarium in Trenton, RVCC Planetarium in Branchburg, Robert J. Novins Planetarium in Toms River, or Edelman Planetarium in Glassboro (pictured). If you're anything like me, you'll be fully immersed and absolutely in awe.
2. Avoid crowds and absorb history at one of the state's smaller museums.
We have so many great museums, but the most popular can get pretty packed. Consider strolling around a smaller museum such as the Walt Whitman House in Camden, The Heritage Glass Museum in Glassboro, Grover Cleveland's Birthplace in Caldwell, or the Stickley Museum in Morris Plains (pictured).
3. Head to the shore.
The beach is beautiful even in the winter, and few things are more calming than the sound of the waves crashing against the shore - just be sure to bundle up!
4. Take a hike.
Hiking isn't only for warmer weather, the winter is just as stunning - this photo of Waywayanda State Park was taken last December. Head out after the first snowfall for some truly magical views.
5. Visit the Center For Relaxation & Healing.
The wellness center offers massage therapy, private yoga instruction and Reiki (energy healing). It certainly isn't for everyone, but it is a unique experience. If you can't make it to Plainsboro, consider any yoga class in your area.
6. Try some holistic healing at The Salt Cavern.
Located in Clifton, this alternative approach to rejuvenation certainly makes for an interesting experience. The reviews are very positive and the process is relaxing. Sit in a simulated salt cave and take in the soothing air - the strange trend is popular in Europe and among celebrities.
7. Listen to a soothing symphony - live!
Enjoy calming classical music performed by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Located near University Heights in Newark, tickets start at just $20.
8. Relax at the spa.
Choose from a variety of soothing services including massages and facials. Head to one of our state's top spas including Serenity Day Spa (pictured) in Jersey City, Sea Spa In Congress Hall in Cape May, Utopia in Vineland, or Mezzaluna in Westwood.
9. Take a scenic drive.
There are so many to choose from in our state! Check out this list of our most scenic roads
or just drive around and enjoy the holiday decorations.
10. Curl up by the fireplace at a charming B&B.
Like at the Violet Suite in Alpine Haus in Vernon, pictured. Conveniently located near Mountain Creek ski resort, this is a great place to unwind after a day on the slopes.
