This Love Song To New Jersey Is Absolutely Perfect And Will Make You LOL

New Jerseyans are a proud bunch, so it is only fitting that local musicians would pen a love song dedicated to the Garden State. The Empire Project, a hip hop duo out of the Aberdeen area, recently released a video for their very catchy, very Jersey hit, “Garden State of Mind.” Even if you’re not a hip hop fan, you’ll likely find this hilarious. The song slips in numerous references to the New Jersey stereotypes we know and (maybe even) love.

“I’m diagnosed with road rage, I get wordy. It’s a real condition, found only in Jersey.” Wawa is featured prominently in the video and our favorite breakfast meat gets a mention. Filming locations include Atlantic City, Wildwood, Jersey City, Newark and more. Check the song out for yourself, soon you’ll be singing along. Sure, a few swear words are mixed in, but it wouldn’t be a Garden State anthem otherwise.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! What did you think? Did you catch all the references? Are you swelling with Jersey pride? If not, just press replay – I swear it gets catchier every time. While “Garden State of Mind” shows a lot of love for the 732, the first area code in America was actually Jersey’s own 201.
