This Love Song To New Jersey Is Absolutely Perfect And Will Make You LOL
New Jerseyans are a proud bunch, so it is only fitting that local musicians would pen a love song dedicated to the Garden State. The Empire Project, a hip hop duo out of the Aberdeen area, recently released a video for their very catchy, very Jersey hit, “Garden State of Mind.” Even if you’re not a hip hop fan, you’ll likely find this hilarious. The song slips in numerous references to the New Jersey stereotypes we know and (maybe even) love.
“I’m diagnosed with road rage, I get wordy. It’s a real condition, found only in Jersey.” Wawa is featured prominently in the video and our favorite breakfast meat gets a mention. Filming locations include Atlantic City, Wildwood, Jersey City, Newark and more. Check the song out for yourself, soon you’ll be singing along. Sure, a few swear words are mixed in, but it wouldn’t be a Garden State anthem otherwise.
What did you think? Did you catch all the references? Are you swelling with Jersey pride? If not, just press replay – I swear it gets catchier every time. While “Garden State of Mind” shows a lot of love for the 732, the first area code in America was actually Jersey’s own 201.
