There are several spectacular train rides you can take to enjoy the fall foliage in New Jersey. Each locomotive journey offers scenic views of the Garden State, and some even provide additional amenities. One really stands out however, especially for family fun.
Black River & Western Railroad offers scenic "Pumpkin Train" rides throughout October.
Pumpkin Junction is home to a small corn maze, hay bale maze for toddlers, wagon rides, a petting zoo, games and activities. All this is included with your ticket.
For an additional fee, riders can pick their own pumpkin. Each weekend features a different theme, from "AppleFest" to farm animals and a Halloween Costume Party.
Trains depart from Flemington on Saturdays & Sundays from September 30th through October 29th. Tickets are $20 for riders aged 12+ and $15 for children aged 3-11. Children under 3 ride free.
This is a unique autumn activity that those of all ages can enjoy. Bring a camera, make memories and enjoy the beauty of the Garden State. Another great option is “The Pumpkin Train” by Delaware River Railroad Excursions. These trips along the river also include a pumpkin patch stop.
