New Jersey offers incredible camping opportunities year round. You can choose from tents, yurts, RV’s and cabins with any amenity you’d like. Air conditioning, arcade, pool, pet friendly; there’s a campsite for that! Here are some of the most unique camping spots in New Jersey, from wild to wildly luxurious.
Wharton State Forest is a wilderness lovers paradise. They offer hiking, swimming, boating, hunting and even a historical village to explore. Campsites range from primitive to modern. Some primitive tent sites are only accessible by hiking and do not offer running water - a true "back to nature" experience. They also offer tent and RV sites with more modern amenities and luxe furnished cabins with en suite baths.
Similar to Wharton, Allaire offers a variety of campsites and a historic village to explore. Allaire also offers biking, hiking and horseback trails as well as a nature center and museum.
High Point, as the name suggests, is the highest point in New Jersey. Camping here will afford you incredible views of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Fish, swim or explore the highest white cedar swamp in the world at 1500 feet above sea level. Part of the Appalachian Trail, enjoy tent or cabin camping. Furnished group cabins with full kitchens and bathrooms are available for your family or group events at just $175 per night. Each group cabin can accommodate up to 28 people!
Enjoy a farm-stay with top notch amenities. Experience your favorite farm animals up close including horses, pigs, goats and sheep; the kids will love it! You'll love the luxurious cabins and cottages with master bedroom suites. Also available for your enjoyment: a game room, swimming pool, hiking trails and planned recreational activities.
Yogi Bear would approve of this family friendly campground. Bring your own RV or choose from a wide variety of luxury cabin and RV rentals. Enjoy the outdoors without leaving behind the comforts of home! There are themed events every weekend and a variety of water features for the kiddies. Teens and adults can compete in laser tag.
Hospitality Creek is also a swim club, so you know the water features are top-notch. Enjoy a 30 acre lake, olympic-sized swimming pool and activity pool. The activity pool offers waterfalls, geysers, log slides, lily pads and a relaxation nook for parents.
This isn't just a campground, it's a wilderness resort. While there are a variety of sites available, I prefer to stay in the luxurious park model homes. For less than the cost of a hotel room (Under $600 a week) you can stay in an amenity laden mobile home in a park filled with fun. Enjoy daily and weekly organized activities including wing-eating contests and craft nights. If you'd rather do your own thing, choose from swimming, fishing, boating, biking, billiards and much more.
9. Ocean View Resort, Ocean View
10. Pine Haven Camping Resort, Ocean View
Pine Haven and Ocean View are neighboring resorts which both offer cabin and trailer rentals. You also have the option of bringing your own RV, though Pine Haven only offers seasonal rates should you choose this option. Ocean View is a personal favorite that offers endless fun. I love the 18-hole mini-golf course and both arcades!
