This 13-Mile Trail Will Take You As High As You Can Possibly Go On A Hike In New Jersey

Are you looking for one of the most challenging hikes you can find in New Jersey? Well, we have good news for you: Despite what you may think, New Jersey has some decently high mountains. And while this trail, in particular, doesn’t take you to the highest point in New Jersey, it does offer the highest elevation gain on any New Jersey trail available on AllTrails.

So, if you’ve been wanting to try something long, steep, and painful: The Windbeam Mountain, Bear Mountain, Board Mountain, and Lake Rickonda Trail, located near Ringwood, is what you’re going to want to try.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Some tips to keep in mind: The trail is best used from March through October, can get rocky and slippery and is moderately trafficked. Dogs are allowed on the trail.
