This New Jersey Restaurant Became A Local Legend By Perfecting Just One Food Item
There are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of amazing restaurants in New Jersey. There are so many delectable dining spots that some food critics refer to the Garden State as a epicurean paradise. Saveur Magazine even named New Jersey “America’s Most Edible State” and called us the “unsung hero of American eating.” Those are some pretty big compliments, and completely correct! So, what does it take to stand out in the unofficial dining capital of the USA? In this case, lobster pizza!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. It's definitely a neighborhood bar but also worth traveling to, for drinks or dinner. It's been thriving for over 75 years, so they're certainly doing something right.

In addition to the full bar, they've got soups, salads, sandwiches, seafood, pasta, and plenty more. Favorite dishes include the Tavern Salad (with pears and pecans), Old Bay Shrimp, and Chicken Tequila (chicken with jalapenos, bell peppers, and onions in a spicy tequila cream sauce, served over penne).

It's nice and cheesy with a crispy thin crust. You can find all sorts of flavors including buffalo chicken and three cheese.

Val's Tavern has been serving this delicious dish since 1942. It's topped with fresh lobster and your choice of mild or spicy marinara sauce. Yum!
I could go for a slice right now! Interested? You can find Val’s Tavern, open 7 days a week, at 123 E River Road, Rumson. To discover more of the best thin crust pizza in New Jersey, click here.
