A lifelong Virginia resident, Beth loves exploring different parts of the world and currently resides in Charlottesville. It’s no secret that the Long Beach Island region is full of noteworthy attractions. The shoreline is beach culture at its best, and there’s an emerging beer and local brand scene that’s sure to enchant visitors from all over. The Southern Ocean Made Brew Trail is a mapped-out route that highlights some of the most vibrant businesses and breweries in the area. So whether you’re a beer aficionado or have a thing for supporting local businesses, you’ll be glad you embarked on New Jersey’s very on brew trail, hosted by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce.
Kindly note: The Surf & Sip Trail is not intended as a pub crawl, but rather a map of unique locations to visit throughout the year. The trail is for visitors age 21 and older. Please do not attempt any surfing activities under the influence.
Nominated for a New Jersey Tourism Award for Excellence, the Surf & Sip Brew Trail is the perfect introduction to the Long Beach Island Region.
The trail is made up of 8 stops, each of which showcases fantastic locally-made products. What's the best way to start? Download the free "Loyale App" at loyale.beer and you're route will be mapped out.
While we'll cover the trail starting from its northern most point, keep in mind that it can be followed in any order. Simply check in through the app and enjoy at your own leisure!
You can also stop by the Southern Ocean Chamber’s LBI visitor center for a physical map of the brew trail locations and all the information you need to make your visit a memorable one.
Each location along the trail will have a place to "check-in," where you'll get credit for visiting and a passport stamp. Those that visit all 8 sites over the course of several months will be eligible for a prize!
While you're in the area, be sure to stop by ManaFirkin Brewing Co., established in 2017. This pub also offers delicious food such as BBQ wings that pair perfectly with the brew.
Afterwards, swing by Ann Coen Photography to catch the spirit of LBI. This collection of local photography captures the region perfectly, and you may just be inspired to take a photograph home with you.
The next destination is the Tuckerton Seaport and Bayman's Museum, where visitors can stretch their legs and enjoy learning about the area's history in conjunction with the beautiful landscape.
The next featured brewery is Ship Bottom, which specializes in handcrafted ales and lagers. A flight of beer comes served on a surf board...would you expect anything else from these locals?
Last but not least is South-End Surf N' Paddle, where visitors can learn about the art of paddle boarding, and the hard work that goes into crafting these high-quality boards.
After you've completed each stop, be sure to take time to keep exploring this scenic shoreline. You can create your own stops along the way and take in all that the Long Beach Island region has to offer.
