People have a lot to say about New Jersey and not all of it is good. Whenever I travel, I hear jokes about our accent (what accent?), our airport (not all of New Jersey looks like Newark Airport, thank you very much), our awful beaches (EXCUSE ME???), or our armpit of America nickname (not nice, or true!). Most commonly, people comment on our (lack of) scenery. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

We may not have major mountain ranges like Colorado or Washington and our beaches may not be as blue as those in Hawaii, but we’ve got everything you could ever want. We’ve got the Kittatinny, Watchung, and Ramapo Mountains, Palisades Cliffs, spectacular woodlands (hello, Pinelands), magnificent lakes, over 700,000 acres of farmland, and BEAUTIFUL BEACHES. In fact, New Jersey has some of the cleanest beaches in the country, according to a recent report by The Natural Resources Defense Council.

We’ve also got bustling cities, charming small towns, and just so happen to be a paradise for foodies. (Learn more about that by clicking here.) Personally, I think the Garden State is gorgeous. But you don’t need to take my word for it. The drone footage below, featuring locations all over New Jersey, actually made me tear up a little. For all its flaws, I love New Jersey – it will always be home.

Did you spot your town? Filmed by YouTube user Jony Jon, the footage is breathtaking, but it isn’t the only mesmerizing drone footage of our gorgeous little state. If your favorite New Jersey spot wasn’t captured in this video, perhaps it’s in one of the following…

Which video was your favorite? I think I’d have to go with the sunrise over Lavallette but they’re really all so stunning. For a few of our most beloved photos, check out this “best of” list.
