The Whimsical Street In New Jersey That’s Like Something Out Of A Fairy Tale

There are so many enchanting places in New Jersey and over the years I’ve covered many of my favorites but there’s one that hasn’t been in the spotlight…yet. Head to 9th Street between North Bay and North Delaware Avenues and you’re in for a delightful treat. This strip of street has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind shopping village.

Bay Village is a shopping center spread across several blocks on Long Beach Island.

The charming wood-sided and shingled buildings are meant to transport you into the past.

Built in 1965, it was designed as a replica of a 19th century waterfront village.

But it's not just the architecture and weathered wood that contribute to the old-fashioned theme.

Enjoy a nice big heaping of nostalgia at Country Kettle Fudge.

They make the creamiest, most mouthwatering fudge using copper kettles. The kettles help the fudge cool slowly and evenly before it is hand-whipped.

In addition, you'll find nearly two dozen shops, eateries and local artist galleries.

Breezin' Up is a laid back clothing and lifestyle shop with a beachy vibe.

Beached is another beachy shop. Here, you'll find home goods and gifts. They sell the most beautiful handcrafted starfish Christmas trees during the holiday season.

Speaking of the holiday season, yuleTIDE is your go-to destination for one-of-a-kind gifts and decorations. Enjoy the invigorating scent of LBI, all year long!

Bay Village's Ship Bottom Brewery is a fantastic nano brewery that hand crafts small batches of unforgettable beer. They've done a spicy collaboration with famed wing spot The Chicken Or The Egg and currently have their Almost Famous Oatmeal Cookie Ale on tap.

Also check out Crust & Crumb Bakery (famous for their elephant ears), Bay Village Pizza, and Spice It Up (a gourmet spice shop).

Steps from the beach, Bay Village offers two very popular events - July 4th Fireworks and Chowderfest in early autumn. Bay Village's own Country Kettle Chowda has won multiple awards.

Just across the way (also on 9th street and keeping with the 19th century waterfront village theme) is Schooner's Wharf.

A highlight of Schooner's Wharf is the giant schooner, home to Alison's Wonderland gift shop.

Enjoy all of this just minutes from the ocean, Fantasy Island Amusement Park, Thundering Surf Water Park and the New Jersey Maritime Museum! While this area covers multiple addresses, you’ll find it by putting 830 N Bay Avenue, Beach Haven into your GPS.
