However, one of the best small towns in New Jersey, one that really is a beauty, is none other than the town of Clinton. Anyone who is planning day trips in New Jersey should add the delightful town of Clinton to their list, if not just for the sheer picturesque quality, then for the various attractions throughout. For starters, it’s absolutely beautiful: located along the banks of the Raritan River, it has its own little waterfall and rolling hills in the distance. You’ll also find some beautifully restored mills and historic buildings. And if you enjoyed the waterfront views of Lambertville, you’ll flip for the beautiful and often photographed Red Mill Museum Village is overflowing with local history. It was in operation between 1810 and 1928 and became a museum in 1965. The village is home to the restored mill, a schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, dynamite shed, carriage shed, lime kiln, and more.
