The Tiny Town In New Jersey That’s Quietly Becoming The Brewery Capital Of The Northeast
New Jersey is crazy about craft beer! Breweries are popping up all over the state and we think it’s pretty great. Why? Because we love supporting local businesses (but the “beer” element doesn’t hurt, either). You’ll find breweries all over and some towns have several! One little town has two of New Jersey’s best.

Mount Holly is a Burlington County town that comes in at under 3 square miles and has fewer than 10,000 residents...but it's got some GREAT breweries. It also has a haunted prison museum and makes for a great day trip destination. If you're outdoorsy, enjoy the picturesque parks, lakes and creeks!

Spellbound is a 20 barrel brewhouse with a 1,000 square foot tasting room. Free tours are available on request and patrons are welcome to bring food or order from local restaurants. Kids are allowed in the tasting area and pets are allowed on the patio. The IPA is Spellbound's signature beer but you won't want to miss the seasonal Oatmeal Raisin Cookie (available November-February). 200 pounds of raisins and 3 pounds of vanilla beans are added to each batch - yum! The tasting room is open from Wednesday-Sunday and you can enjoy special events like Yoga & Beer on December 1st.

Village Idiot is a 1.5 BBL (46.5 gallons) artisanal, small-batch, neighborhood brewery. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and guests are welcome to bring food in. Visit for tours and events like the Lighting of the Leg on December 2nd. Yes, they're lighting a leg lamp. Come dressed as your favorite A Christmas Story character and get ready for their winter release, Notafingah. Currently on tap are Punk o'Lantern, Philly Pretzel and Elvis Is In The Building! (a banana peanut butter porter). The tasting room is open from Thursday-Sunday.

You can find both Nale House Brewing Company and Lower Forge Brewery in Medford. Lower Forge hosts special events like Trivia Night on the 23rd.
Mount Holly is a wonderful destination and their breweries only add to the town’s lively atmosphere. To learn more about Mount Holly attractions (specifically, the haunted prison museum), click here.
