These 5 Waterfall Swimming Holes In New Hampshire Are Perfect For A Summer Day
Everyone loves waterfalls, and plunging into a crisp, cool pool on a hot summer day. In New Hampshire we’re lucky because we can combine two great loves: waterfalls and swimming holes. Here are the waterfall swimming holes in New Hampshire that you must visit before swimming season ends.
1. Pemigewasset River, Woodstock
The Pemigewasset River has some great swimming holes scattered along it, but this one near the falls is particularly great. In Woodstock the river's current pulls you over the smooth rocks of a natural waterfall water slide.
2. Horseshoe Falls, Wilton
Editor's note: Horseshoe Falls is located on private property and is not accessible to the public at this time.
This deep swimming hole near Nashua is a popular spot near bubbling falls. From Route 101A west, turn onto Rt 31 in Wilton. After you go over a bridge, take an immediate left over the railroad tracks. The swimming hole is about a mile down, just before Seagroves Street.
3. Rocky Gorge, Albany
Rocky Gorge isn't for the timid. The Swift River drops in a beautiful fall, and the base is a deep pool perfect for jumping. This cliff jump is exhilarating but also a bit dangerous. If you prefer a slower pace, there are much less scary sections of the river just down stream.
4. Lower Falls, Albany
If Rocky Gorge isn't for you, head downstream to Lower Falls, where the current is softer and the falls less drastic, but still beautiful. No wonder this is a popular spot.
5. Diana's Baths, Conway
Diana's Baths is the jewel in the crown of New Hampshire waterfall swimming holes. Not only is it stunningly gorgeous, but the calm flow of the water over the falls and through warm, shallow pools makes it perfect for swimming.
