The Tiny Town In New Hampshire With A Terribly Creepy Past
New Hampshire is known for awe-inspiring mountains, great hikes and beautiful lakes and rivers. But between all the nature lies some pretty shocking stories. In a place that’s known to be one of the safest in America, some pretty terrible things have happened. From found bodies to double murders, those looking for the darker side of New England will certainly find it here. Starting with this eerie tale.
Located in Merrimack county, Allenstown has just 4,300 residents. Hardly the type of place you’d imagine being in the news. And definitely not for something like this.
What started as a simple hunting trip turned into a horror story when someone came across a 55-gallon drum in Bear Brook State Park. Inside were the decaying remains for a woman and a young girl. The bodies were wrapped in plastic and it was later discovered that they’d been killed by blunt force trauma.
The killer was never found and life moved on in this small town. Until 2000 when another metal drum was found in the same area. This time the remains of two young women were found inside.
Tests revealed that the women had likely been killed around the time of the first two - sometime between 1977 and 1985. Additional tests founds that woman and two of the young girls were related, no the identities were never publicly revealed.
All was quiet on the case - presumed to be cold by now - until 2017 when there was a break. A resident of Manchester, Denise Beaudin had been missing since 1981 and the authorities revealed that she was connected to the bodies found in Bear Brook State Park.
Beaudin was last seen with her boyfriend, who had been revealed as the father of one of the murdered women. Her boyfriend used a fake name - Robert Evans - and he died while incarcerated in 2010 while serving time for the murder of his wife.
Nobody knew his real identity. That is until June of the same year when video footage emerged of Evans. Evans’ real name was Terrence Rasmussen and his identity was revealed after his family went to the authorities.
Shocked that something like this can happen here? Then you might just fall off your chair when you read about these unsolved murders dating back to the 1980s.
