A Springtime Polar Vortex Is Headed For New Hampshire And Temperatures Will Plummet To Record A Breaking Low

New Hampshirites are accustomed to unusual changes in the weather. Rainy days suddenly turn BBQ-worthy and windy mornings give way to beautiful outdoor days. But, despite this experience, nothing could really prepare us for snow in May. But, looks like that’s what we’re in store for this weekend! This springtime polar vortex might just have us bundled up as though it’s January!

Cold air is set to arrive in the eastern portion of the United States this weekend and New Hampshire is just one of the states that will be affected.

Much of the region should be prepared for record-setting cold temps. And especially impacted will be those on the eastern seaboard. Folks here are likely to see highs and lows 20 degrees below what's average for this time of year.

This unusual springtime polar vortex phenomenon is caused by a northeastern-bound storm that will hit Arctic air. We've seen a few of these over the winter, but nothing has been quite so late in the season.

The National Weather Service radar shows that temps between Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th will be quite frigid in a number of states. But, New Hampshire could see temps in the 20s and 30s!

But, before we complain, remember that we're not alone! Most of New England is in for this unseasonable weather.

You can get a sense of what to expect from this National Weather Service radar map, but some parts of the state could be looking at temperatures close to single digits!

Just in case you though 2020 couldn't get any stranger, *75 million* people in America could be waking up to below-freezing temperatures on Saturday morning!

For many of those in the Granite State, the temperature on May 9th could be colder than it was on Christmas.
