Enjoy A Picturesque Drive Along One Of New Hampshire’s Official Scenic Byways
The weather is getting warmer, but there are still some restrictions in place regarding where we can go. But that’s okay! There’s plenty to do in New Hampshire outside exploring the world around us. From hikes to lake trips, nature is one of the best ways to relax. One of the most best ways to appreciate all that nature is by taking a drive. And the best drive is this one right here!
If you’ve spent any time in New Hampshire, you know that driving aimlessly through the woods classifies as an actual activity. And The Kancamagus Highways, or Highway 112, is the best way to do it!
The highway started as two small town roads. One in Lincoln and one in Passaconaway. It opened to traffic in 1959 and celebrated its 50th anniversary back in 2009.
In addition to being beautiful, there’s also much to learn here. There are informational placards teaching visitors about the history of the byway. And this history is a long one! It dates all the way to the 1600s!
But even if you choose to stay in the car for the duration of the 56-mile ride, you won’t miss out on the views. The road runs through the White Mountain National Forest, making for stunning scenery throughout.
