The Oldest Theater In New Hampshire Is Now Offering Private Showings And It’s Fun For The Whole Family
There’s something special about heading to the movies with friends and family! In fact, that’s one of the things we’ve missed doing over the past few months. That’s why we were thrilled to find out that one of the most beloved local movie theaters (and the oldest!) is offering private screenings. If you’re missing the fun of the theater, consider making a reservation for this special offering.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
The Peterborough Community Theater opened on September 26th, 1914 as the Gem Theater. Today it's owned by local residents Vanessa Amsbury-Bonilla and Kevin Goohs, who love this community as much as a good movie!
The theater has undergone a plethora of renovations to keep up with the time, including the move from 35mm to digital in 2013. The best part of this upgrade is that it was totally community funded through Kickstarter! That means a lot of people truly love this place.
In 2020, the theater was forced to stop offering public admission and they've begun offering something truly incredible: private showings for your special occasions and groups!
They're currently booking from January through March of 2021 and prices range from $75 to $100 for the entire theater depending on how many people are in your group.
A lovely theater with serious local history, this is a great way to celebrate an occasion, do something unique with your household, or simply take someone special for a night that makes them feel special.
The Peterborough Community Theater offers full theater rentals for all sorts of different events. Prices vary based on how many people you have in your group, so be sure to check out their website for details. You can also visit them on Facebook. If you have questions give them a call on 603-924-2255.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
