Sugar Hill lies in Grafton County and was incorporated in 1962 after it was split off from the town of Lisbon. This late incorporation date makes it the youngest town in the state.
The town's name is derived from the large population of sugar maple trees within its limits.
As its name would suggest, Sugar Hill sits at a high elevation (1,325 feet) above sea level. Its lofty location affords spectacular views over the White Mountain National Forest.
The vistas include the Presidential, Franconia, and Kinsman mountain ranges.
Late autumn and inter are probably the best times to enjoy the grand landscape views from Sugar Hill. The clear mountain air makes it seem as though you can reach out and touch Mt. Washington.
Sugar Hill is famous for its annual celebration of the lupine, a signature New Hampshire flower. These beauties are only on display for a short time during June, so be sure to catch them while they are at their most colorful peak.

While in town, there are two must-see destinations. The first is the famous Polly's Pancake Parlor. Bring a big appetite so you can enjoy their made-from-scratch pancakes loaded with genuine New Hampshire maple syrup.
The second destination to visit is Harman's Cheese & Country Store. Since 1955, Harman's has been selling natural, premium grade white cheddar made from whole milk.
