The Magnificent Overlook In New Hampshire That’s Worthy Of A Little Adventure
There are plenty of trails to explore in New Hampshire and we’re grateful that many of them are easy and simple to follow. But while we love these, we don’t always shy away from the harder one. That’s because many of the more challenging routes offer incredible payoffs in the form of exceptional views of the state. This one is the perfect one to tackle if you love scenic overlooks and are willing to put forth just a bit more effort than normal.
The 1.5-mile Table Rock Trail is located within Dixville Notch State Park in Dixville. While relatively short, the route leads to one of the best views in the state which means the elevation gain is slightly higher than some of the other hikes we’ve featured here. But don’t let that scare you! This hike is worth it!
The end of the route leads to a rocky ledge with a whopping 700-foot drop to the ground. This is definitely a portion of the adventure that requires some extra courage.
But those who aren’t looking to test their bravery will appreciate that the incredible views from the overlook are just as great without stepping out onto the ledge.
To access the trail, Route 26 in Dixville where you’ll find the parking area for the Table Rock Trail clearly marked.

Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
