This Magical New Hampshire Resort Was Just Added To The National Historic Register
It’s not hard to see that New Hampshire has some of the best views in the country. From beautiful views at mountain summits to views across the lakes and sea, you could spend days just enjoying the sights. One of the most magical places to do this is at this historic resort nestled in the Ossipee Mountains. It’s got quite a bit of history and was just recently named to the National Historic Register. See for yourself why you might want to consider a special occasion visit to this beautiful home.
The Castle in the Clouds, in Moultonborough, is one of the most exceptional places to spend a night in New Hampshire.
Unfortunately, Plant lost his money in bad investments and was forced try selling the home to pay his debts in the early 19040s. No buyer was found and he stayed in the house until he died. At this point, the property was bought by the Fred C. Tobey estate.
As much as possible, things have been kept original, including rooms that are set up as if the original family was still living here. There are even some fun building innovations that were new for the time, including a central vacuum system, ammonia brine refrigeration and an intercom system.
Enjoy some decidedly modern beverages, like the impressive Mountain Buster Bloody Mary made with Tamworth Distillery's White Mountain Vodka and topped with a mini burger.
The Castle in the Clouds is located at Route 171, 455 Old Mountain Rd., Moultonborough, NH. They’re open from May through October and the Carriage House Restaurant remains open for certain days during the week throughout the winter. Check them out on Facebook and learn more by visiting their website. You can call them on (603) 476-5900.
There’s another wonderful mountain hideaway that’s worth a visit. This one in the White Mountains is a great place to go in the fall.
