The View From This Little-Known Overlook In New Hampshire Is Almost Too Beautiful For Words
While we appreciate the views that come from driving through the backroads of the state, sometimes beauty takes a little bit of sweat equity. For the days you want to invest a little bit of activity into your sightseeing, head to the great outdoors and take a hike. This one leads to one of the best scenic overlooks in New Hampshire and it’s extra-special!
Many of us think of scenic overlooks and imagine pulling over to the side of the road to take in the view. But we forget that there are tons of trails here in New Hampshire leading to some seriously impressive sights.
The Green Mountain Tower Trail is a three-mile route that offers one of the best scenic overlooks in New Hampshire! On a clear day you can see for miles!
You'll start the journey at the turn around where the pavement of Cat Hole Road ends. The area is private property so be sure to leave the driveway open. Then, head past the gate and start your hike.
The route, which will take about two hours depending on your pace, isn't hard to follow but does have some elevation gain. The trail is rated moderately challenging for this reason.
The view is incredible and includes both Mount Sunapee and Mt. Ascutney in Vermont. And we love that it can be accessed year-round. For some of the most open vistas, visit in the winter when the leaves have fallen and there's more exposure.

The Green Mountain Towers hike is considered moderate in difficulty. That means you won’t need to be an expert climber, but it does mean you’ll want to have some hiking experience before heading out.
