Great Island Common is in New Castle, the small island community tucked just south of Portsmouth. The area consists of 32 acres of parkland and beach with unforgettable views over Portsmouth Harbor.

The real treat at Great Island Common is the views over the harbor, but the rocky beach is also great for exploring.

Picnic tables and shade make the commons a perfect place to spend the afternoon.

And there is plenty of grass for running or flying kites.

When you are done exploring the shoreline, be sure to check out this charming art installation.

The view in the frame changes depending on your angle, but the picture is always charming.
